Guide on Farming the Time-Lost Proto Drake

This is a simple guide on how to find and kill the rarest spawn in the game. The Time-Lost Proto Drake is a very rare spawn which is located in The Storm Peaks of Northrend. The reason everyone wants to kill the TLPD is that it drops Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake.

1. General information on the Time-Lost Proto Drake.
Firstly you will need to know the general statistics about the drake. The drake shares the same spawn time and locations as another dragon known as Vyragosa. Vyragosa is a large blue drake which patrols the exact same routes as the Time-Lost Proto Drake. There can only ever be one drake up at one time and it is usually Vyragosa. The Time-Lost Proto Drake is actually a rare spawn of a rare spawn. Vyragosa is a rare drake in itself, having a spawn timer of 6 hours - 22 hours.

2. Spawn/Routes
Below is a picture showing the multiple routes that Vyragosa and Time-Lost are seen following.

As shown on the map, there are four routes. The most common thing to do is, mount up on a flying mount and hover in the middle of the red/green/orange path. This will give you the most chance of success but if it spawns on the yellow path then you will not see it.

3. Addons
There are a few addons that are very helpful and are used by nearly everyone that tries to find the Time-Lost Proto Drake.

(Click the names to go to the download sites)

1._NPCScan - Npcscan simply alerts you when a rare is found nearby, it finds the rare as it is loaded into your WoW cache files. This is very effective and alerts you as soon as the Time-Lost or Vyragosa is nearby. You must put the npc id's into Npcscan for it to alert you when it finds it. It already has Vyragosa and TLPD id's by default.

2. _NPCScan.Overlay - A simple addon that works with Npcscan. It just shows routes/spawns of npcs on your map.

3. SilverDragon - Silver dragon is very much like Npcscan, it alerts you when ANY rare is nearby without the need of putting in id's.

Good luck in finding the TLPD!!!
